Not Myself Today
The Municipal Wellness Program is committed to supporting and working with Nova Scotia Municipalities to create mentally healthy workplaces.
The Municipal Wellness Program has partnered with the Canadian Mental health Association to roll out the Not Myself Today® (NMT) initiative. The NMT program is an evidence-informed mental health initiative that helps employers support mental health and wellbeing at work. In addition, it helps employers work towards the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
The NMT has three main goals:
- build greater awareness of the importance of mental health in the workplace
- reduce stigma
- foster a safe and supportive workplace culture
Would you like to be a part of the NMT Pilot Project?
This program aligns with the Municipal Wellness Program mandate of supporting municipalities in creating healthy workplaces where employees and elected officials can thrive. The AMANS and NSFM Board of Directors fully supports the implementation of the program and strongly encourages municipalities to participate.
The pilot will give you access to online resources including learning tools, activities, resource sheets, and on-demand webinars. This program will also bring municipalities one step closer to adopting The National Standards of Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace
- The municipality must be a member of the NSFM Benefit Plan program through Hub international.
- The municipality must be willing to appoint at least 1 staff member to be the municipal representative (only 2-4 hours per month). These individuals will help promote the program, educate your team, and become the Municipal Ambassadors for the program. Ambassadors could be CAO, Departmental Manager or Director, HR personnel, and/or a passionate employee in mental health.
Note: The Municipal Wellness Program Manager (Rebecca Kolstee) will act as coordinator for the program and work with the Municipal Ambassadors.
Optional: While the Municipal Wellness Program is covering the base cost of the program, there are optional components that a municipality may choose to purchase for a small fee.
Over 450 organizations have participated in the program, including municipalities from across the county. 90% of these organizations have indicated the program has enabled their teams to proactively address health risks, increase engagement, and reduce absenteeism and disability costs. “We’ve seen changes in the way team members and leaders talk about mental health and we have been able to measure the increased use of our employee and family assistance program as evidence that people are seeking help when they need it.” — ATB Financial

Nova Scotia Municipal Pilot Project:
